Agonizing Over Apostrophes

The weirdest things keep me up at night.

I am having a crisis of grammar. Most grammar rules exist for continuity and clarity of language.

There are a few occasions when I wholeheartedly hate grammatical propriety because it inconveniences me.

For example, this is the proper way for a singular element with a possessive:

Brutus’s

The “s’s” is ugly. Visually, it bothers me.

So instead of writing Sarakas’s, I have been writing Sarakas’ because it doesn’t visually make my eye twitch.

It’s wrong. It looks neater, but it’s incorrect. And I’m going to roll with it anyway.

Sorry world.
