New Characters and a Future Series.
Most of my books feature aggressive, deadly, and fatalistic characters. The heroines are considerably damaged but completely capable of kicking ass and drinking a whiskey-and-gray-matter stew out of a victim’s skull.
Not gonna lie, they’re exhausting to write.
War-torn PTSD characters are difficult to manage and portray responsibly, not to mention I spend twenty-four hours a day trapped with them in my head.
And then there’s the series-cycle of constantly leveling up their powers and doubling down on the trauma. The escalation trap is part of what turned me away from many major comic series and long-running books.
I’m looking for a clean slate before I dip back into a world that I’ve been navigating since 2010.
One of the character ideas that stuck with me is a ‘normal’ girl. Well, a witch, but otherwise pretty mundane. She’s got regular problems: an ex-boyfriend who is alternately a jackass and a charming dude, a mother who relies on her a little too much, a struggling business, and a weight problem.
She’s the girl-next-door, but y’know, after the apocalypse.
It’s going to be called Familiar Tale.
What’s that you ask?
Do I have cover art?
Yes, actually. I do.
I’ll try not to get too excited about promoting this series just yet. After all, I have to get the Lilith stories out there first! This is coming soon.
Soon-ish.
